ICAP hosted two events and an exhibition booth at the 3rd edition of Innovate4Climate (I4C), which took place in Singapore from 4-7 June 2019.

Both ICAP events focused on the Asia-Pacific region and future cooperation among carbon markets:

  • Experience and future prospects of the Korean Emissions Trading System together with the Korea Environment Corporation (KECO) and the Korea Environment Institute (KEI), ICAP hosted a workshop looking at the recent developments and outlook of the Korean Emissions Trading System (KETS), which has now been operating for more than four years and entered a critical new phase in 2019 by introducing auctioning. Discussion also touched on the prospects of greater regional cooperation in carbon markets and Korea’s potential role.
  • Carbon markets in Asia-Pacific: opportunities for cooperationICAP also held a side event in the margins of I4C. Speakers and facilitators together with participants of this event explored the opportunities and challenges of cooperation on carbon markets by sharing key insights on system design from the ICAP Guide to Linking Emissions Trading Systems. Furthermore, a panel discussion took place focusing on the practical experiences of policymakers, as well as an interactive simulation on linking ETSs. The format provided many opportunities for networking and concluded with a drinks reception.

ICAP also hosted a booth in the exhibition hall presenting our latest work, including the 2019 ICAP Status Report
