We are excited to share that the 2026 edition of the ICAP Status Report: Emissions Trading Worldwide will be released on 15 April. In the weeks ahead, we will be providing more information on what to expect, including further details of two public webinars showcasing the report's key findings.

This year's report arrives at a compelling moment: even as geopolitical headwinds appear to be shifting priorities away from climate action, momentum behind emissions trading systems (ETS) has not slowed. Three new national-level systems are coming online this year, existing systems are maturing, and price development has on average returned to relative stability. At the same time, momentum is building behind international cooperation and a deepening community of practice — and ICAP is proud to play its part in fostering that collaboration.

As a cornerstone publication for the carbon market community, the annual ICAP Status Report charts the progress made in the design, implementation, and refinement of compliance ETS over the past year. This latest edition features comprehensive factsheets on all ETS currently in operation, under development, or under consideration, complemented by in-depth analyses and infographics illustrating key characteristics, trends, and prospects for emissions trading worldwide.

To mark the release of the report, ICAP is hosting two public webinars timed to accommodate the global reach of the ETS community. Each webinar will open with a presentation of the report's key findings, followed by insights and updates from ETS jurisdiction representatives, before closing with a lively panel discussion on the latest developments in emissions trading around the world.
