The Republic of Kazakhstan Joins ICAP as an Observer

The Republic of Kazakhstan has joined ICAP as an observer on October 8, 2012.

In December 2011, the Republic of Kazakhstan introduced amendments and additions to its environmental legislation that laid the groundwork for developing a cap-and-trade program. On this basis, the Ministry of Environment Protection is currently preparing necessary additional measures for the introduction of the country's first emissions trading scheme, with a pilot phase envisaged to start in 2013. For more information, please visit the website of the Kazakh Ministry of Environment Protection.
