On 7 December 2011, ICAP hosted a Side Event on “Emissions Trading Around the World: Achievements and Prospects” at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2011 (COP 17) in Durban, South Africa.

It shows the panelists discussing emissions trading around the world, focusing on achievements and prospects. Panelists invited were the Hon. Greg Combet, Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, Australia; Jos Delbeke, Director General for Climate Action, European Commission, and Dr. Urban Rid, Director General, Climate Protection, German Ministry for the Environment.

The event presented latest developments and prospects for emissions trading around the world. It was opened with interventions by top decision makers driving ETS development worldwide, including The Hon. Greg Combet, Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, Australia; Jos Delbeke, Director General for Climate Action, European Commission, and Dr. Urban Rid, Director General, Climate Protection, German Ministry for the Environment.

Statements were followed by a technical panel discussion of government representatives and carbon market experts, showcasing ETS developments in Australia, Chile, the EU, New Zealand, British Columbia, and California. The Hon. Terry Lake, Minister of Environment, Province of British Columbia, Canada, delivered a closing speech.
