About ICAP
International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP)
On October 29, 2007, leaders of more than 15 governments met in Lisbon, Portugal to launch the establishment of the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP). ICAP is made up of countries and regions that have implemented or are actively pursuing the implementation of carbon markets through mandatory cap and trade systems.

ICAP Training Course 2013 in Beijing, China, successfully completed

The International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) successfully convened its 7th Training Course on Emissions Trading for Emerging Economies and Developing Countries, taking place in Beijing, China, from 8 to 17 May 2013.
As a key multilateral forum on emissions trading, ICAP facilitates the exchange of best practices and experience across regions with the aim of helping to establish robust emissions trading systems to eventually move together to a global carbon market.
Against this background, the Training Course was open to 21 carefully selected policy makers and other stakeholders from the academic, nongovernmental and private sectors from China and the Republic of Korea. By focusing on an advanced curriculum, it aimed to assist participants in their efforts in designing and implementing ETSs in their countries and provinces and built capacity on these issues. Over the span of one and a half weeks, participants also had ample networking opportunities with each other and with the teaching faculty, composed of representatives from ICAP members and other recognized experts in the field.
The official launch of the ICAP Training Course took place during a trade dinner organized by the Dutch Embassy in Beijing on the occasion of the visit of the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Ms. Lillianne Ploumen.

ICAP Training Course 2013 on Emissions Trading for
Emerging Economies and Developing Countries in Istanbul, Turkey
We are pleased to announce that the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) will convene an ICAP Training Course 2013 on Emissions Trading for Emerging Economies and Developing Countries in Istanbul, Turkey from 18 to 27 September 2013.
The ICAP Training Course is open to applicants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, India, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lebanon, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Morocco, Russia, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine. For EU Candidate Countries and Potential Candidates, participation in the course provides an opportunity to learn more about the EU ETS legislation and its implementation as part of the EU acquis.
It is addressed to policy makers and other stakeholders from the nongovernmental, academic and private sectors, who are involved in the development of emissions trading systems (ETS) and/or GHG mitigation policy in their jurisdictions.
The course will focus on key issues faced in the design and implementation of ETS, taking into account the specific needs and interests of developing countries.
Over the span of two weeks, participants will have ample networking opportunities with each other and with the teaching faculty, composed of representatives from ICAP members and other recognized experts in the field.
The course will be conducted in English. Applications are to be submitted in English.
Application deadline is 3 June 2013.

Emerging Economies and Developing Countries in Rotterdam, the Netherlands

We are pleased to announce that the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) will convene the ICAP Summer School 2013 on Emissions Trading for Emerging Economies and Developing Countries in Rotterdam, the Netherlands from 8 to 19 July 2013.
The ICAP Summer School is open to applicants from emerging economies and developing countries. It is addressed to policy makers and other stakeholders from the nongovernmental, academic and private sectors, who are involved in the development of emissions trading systems (ETS) and/or GHG mitigation policy in their jurisdictions.
The course will focus on key issues faced in the design and implementation of ETS, taking into account the specific needs and interests of developing countries.

Interactive Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) Map Launched

The International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) and Ecofys have launched a new Interactive ETS Map. This online tool compiles up-to-date information on the status and design of emissions trading schemes around the world and will be updated on continuous basis as new information becomes available.
